FAQ

How does the session work?

I pride myself on capturing the true personalities of those I photograph, and try to avoid awkward poses and fixed grins!  As a mother myself, I have a natural rapport with children and enjoy their company.  I like to put them at ease by joking, chatting and encouraging them to have fun as we capture images.  Shoots last between 60 and 90 minutes – any longer and smaller clients tend to get bored!

What does the price include?

Unlike many photographers, the price I charge includes the shoot and ALL the best, fully edited digital images from the shoot, which you are free to develop as you wish.  The pictures are a mix of colour and black and white, unless you specify.  I will deliver these to you on a thumb drive or via Dropbox, as you prefer, a few days following the shoot.

Where should we have our session?

I am equally at home outdoors in natural light, or in a studio setting at your house.  I like to use a range of different backgrounds to provide interest, and so parks, gardens and commons all work well.  They’re especially good for younger children, who can run and play during the session.

What should we wear and bring to the session?

Dress to feel relaxed, although dressing family members in similar colours – shades of blue, for example, or blue jeans/white tops - can give a polished look to the final photographs. Simple clothes work best, and it’s best to avoid t-shirts with large logos or stripes. Please do bring your child’s favourite toy, whether it’s a bunny, a doll or a football! Snacks and drinks are also a good idea.

What if the weather is bad?

UK weather is notoriously fickle, so I keep a careful eye on the forecast and if it looks as if the heavens are going to open, we reschedule to suit you.  Do note though, that overcast days are often better for shooting than bright sunlight!
